Barcelos, Alto Rio Negro, Amazon

This is a special invitation to go fishing for giant Amazonian peacock bass in one of the best destinations in the world.

Our starting point is the city of Barcelos, AM, located in the upper part of the Rio Negro. Our expedition begins in Manaus, capital of the state of Amazonas, on a one-hour charter flight over 650 km of virgin forest to the city of Barcelos.

Our staff is prepared to fish in any of the more than 15 tributaries of the upper Rio Negro, between Barcelos and Santa Isabel. Our commitment is to always fish in the best fishing spots for the group present, without measuring efforts to have the best fishing week of their lives!!!

A very important fact is that in the basin of the Rio Negro and its tributaries, there are no mosquitoes, because the water has a very acidic pH, so mosquitoes do not reproduce.

With this, we make the yellow fever vaccine (mandatory), just because of the need for documentation to enter the Amazon region, required by the airport authorities on arrival in Manaus.

The entire Scotti Fly Fishing team awaits you in Barcelos, where our adventure begins. Álvaro Scotti, is the head guide who welcomes and accompanies the entire group. Fly fishing instructor, specializing in fly tying and casting, who has more than 300 weeks in his curriculum working as a guide in this region since 1998. Alvaro is an expert bait caster as well.

The Alto Rio Negro is a gigantic complex of 430 km of river between Santa Isabel, to Barcelos. In this section of the river, 15 tributaries arrive, each with a spectacular possibility of fishing.

Each week of the season, we look for the best fishing spots to be found on the Rio Negro or any of its tributaries. Adding it all up, there are over 3000 km of rivers full of very good fishing waiting for you. Every week we look for the best water levels, thus obtaining the best catches!

The region is home to the largest peacock bass in the world!

In this region live the giant azu peacock bass, paca peacock bass, numerous butterflies and tauás. We have a large number of other specimens, such as arowanas, trairas, barramundi and jacundás, which boost fishing.

We will fish aboard the Pescador hotel boat, in total comfort. This boat is prepared to receive 14 sport fishermen per week.

It is a boat 27 meters long, 2 floors, very comfortable, equipped with 7 double cabins with air conditioning and private bathroom.

Fishing:

We will fish with artificial baits and fly to capture Açus, Pacas, butterflies and the numerous tauás. For those who like heavy fishing, the region offers many species of catfish. We can capture the colorful pirararas, piraibas, surubins and occasional prarucus.

Fly fishing:

- Equipment # 8 to # 10, with floating or intermediate lines (torpical lines).

- Fluocarbon leaders 40 to 60 pounds.

- Flies in 1/0 to 3/0 in white, yellow, lemon, orange and red colors.

  Bait Casting or Spinning:

  -Equip between 20-25 pounds compatible reels.

- Multifilament line from 50 to 65 pounds.

- Surface bait, half water and jigs.

Live bait Fishing:

- Equipment from 100 pounds. Heavy fishing gear.

Season:

Mid-September to early December, January and February.

All of our programming is based on a pair of fishermen (double basis).
