PUELO RÍO
Chilean Patagonia

Our expedition Chile trouts and salmon have as destination one of the most beautiful estuaries in the twelfth Chilean sector, the estuary of Rio Puelo. Located 200 kilometers south of Puerto Varas, the Puelo ends up dumping its waters in the Reloncaví Estuary, which in turn dumps its waters in the cold Pacific Ocean.

In its waters, you will find a wide range of salmonids! When dealing with resident trout, we have in abundance the rainbows, browns and fontinalis. At the end of the season the famous steel heads appear with all their mastery, receiving us with beautiful and long fights!
At the end of September begins the ascent of the great king salmon, which has its reproductive apex at the end of April. At the end of the season, Atlantic salmon also rises to reproduce. Adding all this, we have an estuary formed by the river Puelo and 3 more rivers that supply it with waters of melting. In its middle part, the Puelo crosses a glacial lake called Taguá Taguá, and a kilometer below it, has a sector of slower waters, where it happens to be called Lake Victoria. The most amazing thing is to have all these waters available for our fishing week, filled with trout and salmon waiting for our flies and our artificial ones!

Fishing in the region is regulated allowing fishing with fly equipment as well as spinning and bait casting equipment.

THE LODGE

We will be staying at the most charming lodge in the region, the banks of the Puelo River, in a part where it widens and ends up changing its name to Lake Victoria. Refúgio Esperança has 6 guests in total comfort, in double rooms, with private bathroom. The Lodge is nothing more than a fishing hut on the mountain, at the edge of a wonderful river!

On the balcony, a large hot tub (a water bath that is very heated for relaxation), called by them from the pool, guarantees a complete relaxation amid all the stunning nature of the Chilean mountain range.
